Goldwork embroidery came to the Nizhny Novgorod Region in the 18th century along with the Old Believers and continued the traditions of Old Russian sewing.
The craftsmen of Gorodets were famous for their ability to decorate with gold embroidery shawls, scarves, shawls, sundresses, souls, objects of worship.
In 2018, the Gorodets Gold Embroidery factory celebrated its 90th anniversary.
